Imbedded in it is the Artist’s Soul
To paint is to put in figures and colors the beating of an artist’s heart. I do believe in this. A masterpiece is not a masterpiece when it does not paint a picture of an artist’s soul.
How bout a portrait of another person, does it paint the artist’s soul? You might ask. Well, an artist’s soul does cannot readily be seen by the naked eye. Rather it can be seen at how the objects in the painting are placed. It can be seen at how the colors are mixed in this and that direction. The artist’s soul is imprinted in the very minute details of a masterpiece.
Many paintings have gone a long way, lasted decades of popularity, lived long enough to tell the tails of centuries. Writers have been inspired by this, singers and composers who translate into their medium the story of a painting. The song “Vincent†is an example, a song inspired by Vincent van Gogh with his painting “The Starry Night†- a beautiful translation of one masterpiece.
The modern technology of today has redefined at how masterpieces are appraised. Some talk about it in the internet through news. Some even get paid for blogging it. Whatever the method the people may use, masterpieces will be translated and retranslated into any medium, carrying with it the soul of the artist him or herself.
