I remember when I was little, my mom used to bring me with her during her everyday walk. We literally walk a lot around the city. It was then that I first saw people selling their paintings. Last August, my mom went preparing the house and did some construction through a local carpenter. My sister was getting married then and everyone in the family are coming. I discussed with her the things to be done and one was the room partition for my room and the other room beside it.

The rooms were separated only by a thin plywood since it was constructed about nine years ago. I guess it was about time to make a good and stable partition between the two rooms.

So, the room partition was constructed (thanks for the quick payday loans my dad had). As a bonus, my mum rewarded herself with a cabinet on top the kitchen for her to keep the kitchen stuff when not used.

Why am I talking about this? I went thinking about what colors to paint the constructed cabinets. House color is a big issue for me. I know it affects the psychology of the people living in it. Blue gives you a relax feel while red makes the atmosphere warm and lively.

I really hope I could save enough money to help with the painting expenses. For now, it is bare- the brown wood color plywood naturally has.

There are a number of good wall painters around our town but I would still want to be part of it. I like thinking of wall color combinations and how I want to set the mood of every room using it.

Have you tried painting on walls and other wide spaces? I have tried once when I was a third grader. It was actually a school wide activity. Students from different grade years were chosen by several teachers to do the wall artworks. I guess it was a newly finished perimeter fence and the school was encouraging students to develop their arts skills and put them to practical use. In this case, the students’ wall paintings would serve as the design around the campus.

It was quite different from my previous drawing experiences at that time since it was the first time to paint images permanently on a concrete wall. The challenge was mainly about the high possibility of running paint so paint must be applied just enough to prevent it from running down all over while still be enough to complete the paint amount needed for the design.

I have a friend who have done wall murals for different local establishments. It is an arduous task she says and the challenge for these types of works of arts is that it must be pleasant and at the same time beautiful and fitting for the type of business it serves.
